The
spinning process
|
 |
 |
 |
| In spinning,
sheet metal disc blanks or, for example, deep-drawn pre-forms are formed
into rotationally symmetrical hollow shapes. The blank or pre-form is
clamped between a spinning former and the tailstock pad and, by friction,
rotated by the main drive. The spinning roller makes local contact with
the outer face of the workpiece and forms the blank step by step under
CNC control until the inside of the |
 |
workpiece is
in contact with the former. The wall thickness remains more or less constant
and the metal is generally formed cold. Machines can be specially adapted
for hot working on request. |
